In Memory of Fred LaFavor
1942-2004
The PBI softball team lost a valuable member of their team
on October 6, 2004 when Fred LaFavor passed away.
Fred
was a continuous presence for the team for nearly a decade
after earlier following the COG team. Whether it was
hauling equipment, providing comic relief or providing a
much needed hand during the planning and running of the West
St. Paul Tournament, Freddie was always there.
“The
team liked to have him around,” says PBI Manager and close
friend Wayne Ball. “He was good for the team and good for
the players.”
Ball
added, “He was a tireless worker during the West St. Paul
Tournament and his efforts will be sorely missed in future
tournaments.” Whether it was operating a scoreboard,
getting trophies engraved or setting up the concession
stand, Fred was always willing to help out in any way
possible.
During the 2005 season, the team wore his initials, “FEL” on
their hats in memory of Freddy and that year’s West St. Paul
Tournament was dedicated to his memory.
